New PUR for Digital

17-05-2012
New PUR for Digital
Morgana’s new range of affordable PUR binders for digital will be exhibited for the very first time at Drupa. Whilst the DigiBook 300 is already known to European customers following its release towards the end of 2011, and with installations already having taken place in a number of countries, two further models have been added to complete the range. The DigiBook series of machines is now suited to all sizes of digital printers, and all sizes of typical digital print run.
A new short-run solution has been included in the range: the DigiBook 150 is capable of producing 150 cycles per hour and can bind publications with a spine thicknesses from 2mm through to 50mm. The DigiBook 300 can bind up to 300 books per hour, whilst the top of the range machine, the DigiBook 450, can produce up to 450 cycles per hour with automatic cover feeding.
“PUR binding for digital is a real growth area for finishing equipment providers. We have seen significant interest since we announced the DigiBook 300, and expect this to grow considerably this year,” said Mr Baum.
Best in Booklet-Making
In the booklet-maker sector Morgana will show the final version of the DocuMaster MFC, as previewed at GraphExpo 2011. This latest addition to Morgana’s DocuMaster booklet-maker line-up provides multiple feed stations which allow the gathering of pre-collated printed book sections with specialist covers. The Documaster MFC incorporates Morgana’s new “DynaTilt” creasing system which automatically registers each sheet and adjusts the mechanism to ensure an accurate crease position every time.
Controlled by a high definition touch panel, common to the full range of Morgana Pro products, the DocuMaster MFC is given full instructions as to the book size, amount of pages and crease position.
DigiCoater: Coating and Sheet Priming Machines
A new and enhanced range of DigiCoater products will be shown for the first time, complete with feeder and stacker options, and the very latest in coating solutions. Available in both 33 and 50cm formats, the DigiCoater is the ideal companion to any digital printing system that aims to emulate offset and provide the very best in print quality.
The DigiCoater 33 is an entry level coater ideal for those printers working with litho presses and digital print engines with a maximum sheet size of SRA3. The DigiCoater 33 comes with three tanks and one coating roller and can be easily changed between gloss, matt and textured finishes.
DigiCoater 50 caters for printers who require a larger sheet size of up to 500mm. The product is available in two versions: the first with four tanks and two coating rollers is ideal for customers who do not wish to use the machine for sheet priming and wish to coat only. The second version is available with six tanks and three coating rollers. This is suited to users that want coat and prime from one machine. Switching between coating and priming is achieved via the touch screen control panel.
More from the Digital Finishing Range
Still a best seller for Morgana, the DigiFold Pro represents the latest version of most popular machine that the company has ever made. This crease and fold product is still the cornerstone of many digital print finishing departments, and the envy of other equipment suppliers.
The increasingly popular multi-function finishing device area is covered by the Morgana CardXtra Plus. A compact unit capable of so much, this exceptional product is able to deliver a wide range of cutting and creasing formats, producing the fast, high-quality finish that digital print deserves.
The ever popular FSN numbering unit will also be exhibited. Another of Morgana’s very early products, this unit continues to be one of the “ever-greens” of the range.
Finishing in Action
As an ideal sample for visitors to take away with them Morgana will be finishing a high-quality book entitled “New York Corners”. The product, printed on Ricoh machines, will be available as a PUR bound book produced on the DigiBook 300, and also as a saddle-stitched product from the DocuMaster MFC.
Morgana, Morgana Everywhere
In addition to its own exhibit on in hall 8B stand A65, Morgana product will also be shown on the stands of several major digital printing product suppliers. These include a DocuMaster MFC in production as part of the Ricoh exhibit; a DigiFold Pro on the HP stand; CardXtra Plus multi-function finishing devices at Konica Minolta and Ricoh; and an FSN numbering system on the Zacares stand.

High Strength

“PUR binding for digital is a real growth area for finishing equipment providers. We have seen significant interest since we announced the DigiBook 300, and expect this to grow considerably this year,” said Mr Baum.
