Hacketts, Cork, Adds Morgana BM350 Bookletmaker
Hacketts, Ireland, have invested in 2 new models of finishing equipment from Printing & Graphic Equipment of Dublin. The new Morgana System AF350 Bookletmaker replaces an earlier Duplo model, and a new Morgana AutoCreaser 33 Pro replaces the existing earlier model AutoCreaser.
Commenting on the latest Morgana purchase, Brian O'Loughlin, Group Director of Hacketts, said: “We were increasingly getting demands from customers for higher page counts and a superior finish to booklets. We had to outsource work to get the squarefold finish that was being asked for, but this was proving very time-consuming, with our supplier having plenty of work to schedule in. It was growing increasingly important for us to have our own in-house solution.
“Having reviewed the products on the market, we were very impressed with the samples provided by the BM350 bookletmaker from Morgana, and have always had an excellent working relationship with Printing & Graphic Equipment, the Morgana Dealer in Ireland. The new BM350 offered us everything we needed in a bookletmaker.”
Morgana recently introduced two new additions to its leading bookletmaking range with the release of the BM350 and BM500, high capacity bookletmaking machines which are capable of books of up to 140 or 200 pages of 80gsm respectively . The BM350 which is installed at Hacketts produces books up to 140 pages squared and trimmed in a single pass. The system includes the Morgana’s AF602 feeder for continuous production. BM350 also incorporates the new full colour touch screen interface providing very clear visible instructions to the operator on all machine functions. “Customers do not always not fully understand until we show them samples, as soon as they see it, they understand the benefits and want the squarefold finish. It is producing some 2,500 to 5,000 books per week for us already, with work also coming from the company's Limerick office as well as our own Cork demands.”
Work at Cork is being produced on a variety of digital print engines across its Irish offices. Cork office employs 15 with the group employing some 65 to 75 personnel overall.
Commenting on the installation, James Walsh, Export Manager at Morgana Systems, added “The squarefold is a great addition to the system when producing thicker booklets, it really gives a great perfect bound look to the book and offers the facility to display print added to the spine. There is a definite need for higher page count booklets and booklets created using much thicker paper stocks. These latest product introductions extend the capabilities of our current set of bookletmakers.”
The New AutoCreaser Pro 33 replaces the old AutoCreaser. The new machine gives a higher production speed and with the new SmartScreen, set-up is quick and easy, even for inexperienced users.
